Where to Donate Your Stuff in Hot Springs, AR

You’re sick of the mess and ready to declutter!

You open a junk drawer, but it won’t even slide out all the way. You swing open the linen closet, and toilet paper rolls tumble to the floor. That’s it—you think—“Time to get rid of this stuff!”

You’re tired of the mess. Tired of the suffocating feeling. Tired of the anxiety that awaits you after coming home from a long day on your feet. All you want to do is relax, but the toys are scattered on the floor, your shirts are protruding out of the chest of drawers, and dishes are piled up in the sink.

Your motivated. You’re ready to finally declutter.

Sound familiar?

But, how?

Some items are easy to part with—but then there’s the tricky stuff:

  • Where do you donate a TV?

  • What about purses that are basically brand new?

  • How do you sell a boat?

  • Does the donation center accept used mattresses?

  • What about extra boxes of unused tile from your recent bathroom renovation?

Reality hits: “How do I actually get rid of this stuff?”

Yard sales? They take hours—pricing, setting up, sweating through a Saturday—and you might make just a few dollars.

Selling online? Sure, it only takes a few minutes to list an item on Facebook Marketplace… but then come the endless messages, the no-shows, the “Is this still available?” followed by silence.

The effort rarely feels worth the payoff—especially for things that only sell for a couple bucks.

Sometimes, you reach a point where you just want it all instantly gone.

The easier way to declutter

Here’s the truth: decluttering doesn’t have to be this complicated.

When you actually know where your stuff is going—when you know it’s helping someone in your community, staying out of landfills, and actually being used—the process feels lighter.

Giving items a second life not only frees your space but also reduces waste and helps others. And that? That feels good.

Below are a few of my favorite local donation centers that are conveniently located in Hot Springs, AR.

As an added bonus, scroll to the end to check out the convenient disposal service offered to Garland County residents that not a lot of people know about!

The Potter’s Clay Thift Store

Address/phone: 1013 Malvern Avenue (for donations + thrift store) / 501-624-1366

What they accept: Clothing, shoes and accessories (gently used), furniture, kitchenware and home decor. I love donating my gently-used dresses and purses here.

How to donate: Park at the left side of the building. There’ll be a side door on the left where you can enter to drop off donations. They’ll also give you a receipt if you need one.

What I love: Not only does your donation support the women’s shelter, they also offer counseling and other resources (at no cost to the victims!).

Abilities Unlimited

Address/phone: 1819 Albert Pike / 501-624-5757

What they accept: Furniture, motorcycles, boats, operable autos, clothing

How to donate: Drive to the back of the building to drop off your donations. You can even call and they’ll pick up your items from your home or business.

What I love: They offer programs for people with developmental disabilities by providing training in “work ethics, behaviors, relationships and personal achievement, through real work opportunities.”

The Humane Society of Garland county

Address/phone: 2026 Central Avenue (Freeman Shopping Center) / 501-321-9604

What they accept: Household items, clothes, pet food, chew toys, shoes/clothes in any condition

How to donate: Bring your smaller items in through the front door. For larger items, call ahead.

What I love: Many donation centers only accept clothing that is gently worn. For my clothes that are well-used and not in the newest condition, I bring those here!

4. Garland County Library

Address/phone: 1427 Malvern Avenue / 501-623-4161 or 501-922-4483

What they accept: Gently-used books and magazines (no cassette tapes or textbooks). I’ve donated many books here. After all, I typically don’t reread many of the books I own!

How to donate: Drive to the right side of the library’s front entrance to donate through the Friends of the Library workroom door.

What I love: All funds from sales of donated books support the library’s programs that are held for our local community

5. Clean, Attractive Property Service (CAPS) (disposal service)

Address/phone: (curbside pickup, in Garland County only) / 501-321-6921

What they accept: Alright, so this service is specifically for trash and disposal. This is not a recycling or donation service. However, I still wanted to include it in this guide because it’s still important. Not everything we have in our homes is practical or useable. This service is for those items that may be bulky, broken or unusable such as brush, mattresses, furniture, building material, metals (water heaters, refrigerators), etc.

How to: Call to schedule pickup (two free pickups/year). Each type of pickup is assigned a certain day, see the website for more details.

What I love: Not only can you dispose of large, random items, but it’s also convenient and even offers special assistance for the elderly and disabled.

If you’ve found yourself spring cleaning, downsizing, or decluttering your home—I’d love to help! I specialize in photo scanning and VHS tape conversion so that your family photos are not only protected but also easily accessible in minutes. A lot of digitization services out there simply scan or convert your home movies, but I take it a step further and organize them too (so you don’t get a digitized mess in return!).

Fill out a form so we can schedule a pick up time here.
